This Guanacaste Live Edge Slab is cut from a cross section of the trunk of a Guanacaste Tree. Guanacaste trees also known as Parota, are native to Central America. Due to its large pores, Guanacaste is a much less dense wood than most of the tropical woods, meaning that it is less heavy than it may appear.
The slab pictured is 4 inches thick and, due to its irregular shape, ranges in diameter from 30 to 54 inches. The patterning in this piece is very nice and will exhibit beautiful grain lines when finished. It would work well as a table top – if you like the general appearance, but don’t like the idea of such an irregular table top, a rounded piece of glass over the top would work well.
