Che Chen Turning Stock

Che Chen (Metopium brownei) is sometimes called black poisonwood or Caribbean rosewood. It hails from the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Jamaica, Guatemala, Belize, and southeastern Mexico. The heartwood color is highly varied, with red, orange, and brown contrasted with darker stripes of blackish brown that ages to a reddish brown. The grain is usually straight with a medium texture and a natural luster.

Che Chen is  very durable, resiststant to most insect attacks, and is fairly easy to work, but has the possibility to tear-out if the grain is interlocked. However, Che Chen glues and finishes well.
