Jatoba

Jatoba (Hymenaea courbaril) or Brazilian Cherry, grows in Central America, southern Mexico, northern South America, and the West Indies. It’s color varies from light orange-brown to darker red-brown and can have darker gray-brown streaks.

Jatoba has a moderate texture and a natural luster, but because of its density and interlocked grain, Jatoba is considered difficult to work with. However, Jatoba glues, stains, turns, finishes well, and lends itself to steam-bending.
