Sitka Spruce

Sitka Spruce (Picea sitchensis) is a large-growing hardwood that is found in the Northwestern portion of North America.

It has a straight grain with an even texture, which gives it a good strength-to-weight rating and makes Sitka Spruce great for building and marine applications. Its coloring ranges from a light yellow to a creamy-yellow and is usually consistent throughout.

Sitka Spruce without knots is rated as easy to work with and glues and finishes nicely, though it can be difficult to stain and result in a blotchy finish without proper pre-treating.
