Supreme Wax

Available in seven shades, Supreme Wax is a fast drying, multipurpose wax formulated to offer excellent results on bare or sealed wood. As a finish, it can be applied in a few or multiple coats to achieve the desired build with a soft sheen. As a final polish over the complete range of Fiddes finishes as well as other proprietary finishes, it will provide a blended, smooth appearance over the whole surface. For wood turners, Supreme Wax is a fast-drying finish that is easily applied and burnished right on the lathe.

Application: Always applying sparingly. A little goes a long way. Supreme Wax can be applied with a pad or brush. Special application pads and wax brushes are available for the type of heavy bodied paste wax. Because this product was designed for quick solvent release, it is important to work methodically and sparingly, following the grain where possible. Avoid large swirls and excessive overlaps. This wax will dry in as little as five minutes and is ready for buffing with cloth or wax buffing brush.

Compatibility: When applied over any of the Fiddes Durable Finishes such as Clear Glaze, Danish Oil and Hard Wax Oil, it is best to let the base finish cure for a minimum of three days. This also applies to any proprietary varnish, lacquer, oil, or urethane type finish with a similar petroleum type solvent base. Application of Supreme Wax over most water-based finishes can usually be done after 24 hours, but a longer curing time for the finish is recommended when possible. Supreme Wax is very compatible with shellacs and can be applied over shellac in as little as 24 hours. Allow longer drying time when possible.

Thinning and Conservation: White Spirit (high grade mineral spirit) can be used in very small amounts, e.g. one teaspoon, in the event that wax in the can has become thick. For almost all purposes, the wax is used directly from the can, unthinned. Supreme Wax stored in warm temperature, usually at 89 degrees or more, can go liquid in the can This does not affect its working property, and in some cases may be advantageous to work wax into tight molding and carvings. A wax that has softened can be refrigerated for a brief time to restore to paste consistency. Every bit of wax can be used or combined with a fresh can. There should be no need for disposal of wax as waste.

Reversibility: Supreme Wax can easily be removed by wiping with mineral spirits, turpentine or citrus solvent. Older, more cured wax will take a bit more effort to remove than fresh wax.
