EBONY, MACASSAR
Macassar Ebony (Diospyros celebica) is similar to Indian Ebony in that it’s also from Southeast Asia. However, Macassar Ebony’s grain is often more defined and bolder. Though Macassar Ebony has a fairly high price tag, it is considerably less expensive than Gabon Ebony.
Macassar Ebony is excellent for turning, but tends to be difficult to work with otherwise.
