Satinwood, Movingue

Movingui Satinwood (Distemonanthus benthamianus) is a lustrous wood that is distributed throughout Western Africa.

Its color ranges from a light yellow to orangey-brown which tends to deepen in color as it ages. It is a durable woods that resists termites and can often have curl figuring.

Movingui is considered a moderately easy wood to work with, though it can tearout during planing when quarter sawn. However, it finishes well, glues and stains nicely, and can be steam bent.
