
What is Curly Maple?
Soft Curly Maple is also called Tiger Maple. It is a wood that has a “figure” in the grain. In the case of Soft Curly (aka Tiger) Maple, the figure is a soft striping effect that resembles the stripe of a tiger.
What is Curly Maple Used for?
As one of the densest and most durable of US hardwoods, maple is used for project intended to be heavily used for many years, such as furniture, flooring, and cabinetry.
Because of its unique look, curly maple is often used for musical instruments. In fact, it was called fiddle maple or fiddleback maple in colonial times, a term that is still used today.
Curly maple is used in much of the unique, custom furniture we feature in our client project galleries.
